Vest Pocket Kodak a-127 Folding Camera

The Kodak Vest Pocket was the best selling camera series made by Eastman Kodak from 1912 to 1926. It was the first camera to use the smaller 127 film reels. The Vest Pocket Autographic (VPA) Kodak was advertised as the "Soldier's Kodak" during WWI. Many soldiers bought the small folding camera to record their travels and experiences. The owners were encouraged to "make your own picture record of the war". The Vest Pocket Kodak has an aluminum painted body and leather bellows. It has a brilliant viewfinder and the film advance is indicated by the red window in rear. The autographic feature allows notes to be written on the paper backing of the 127 film. This is done through a window in the camera back and with a stylus pen. The early model Vest Pockets, as is this one, had a ball bearing shutter with a single fixed focus meniscus lens behind the shutter. This Vest Pocket Kodak is in very good vintage/antique condition for its 100 year age! Cosmetically, the case has chipping paint and wear consistent with age and use.
