Are Camera Accessories Worth It? Five Camera Accessories You Might Have Forgotten.
When you first buy a camera, it feels like you have got the whole setup - and in many ways, you do. But as each photography session passes, small cracks begin to show in your setup, and that's when the yearning starts, 'Oh, I wish I had.' Is there a way to fix this?’ ‘Damn it I needed a flash.’ Fear not, we have you covered. Although these accessories can change depending on the model and brand of your cameras, here are five general photographic accessories that you might be missing or have forgotten that will help upgrade, protect and perfect your photography.
Camera Straps
To protect my camera from falling, a strap has become standard for all my cameras. I have found that straps add an extra layer of security when carrying my camera around on the street. If you get overstimulated by wearing a strap, I find that wrapping the strap like a bandage around my hand or investing in a wrist strap allows for more movement and enables me to navigate chaotic situations like a mosh pit, knowing that it’s not going to go flying. We have a diverse range of camera straps on our website, from vintage branded straps to new general straps. Find more [here]
Speedlight Flashes
I always thought yeh I can get away without a flash. However, my first time photographing a concert, when I saw that the camera suggested I go lower than 1/60 second on shutter speed, I thought oh dear, these photos aren't going to come out at all or mega blurry. Since then, flashes have been essential to my photography. Flashes not only allow you to shoot in dark settings, but it help ensure you get proper exposure. The visual outcome of flash can produce vibrant, bright and colourful images, filling in pesky shadows so that your subject is sharp and crisp. Find a range of flashes [here].
Camera Bags and Cases
Having all these accessories can be awkward to store and carry around; a camera bag is the perfect solution. A camera case protects your camera from dust if you don't use it regularly, but it can also shield it from the rainy weather of the UK. If you're concerned about the hassle of removing the case and missing a shot, most cases feature a removable top that easily detaches from the buttons at the back. This feature allows the bottom half of the case to protect the camera from scratches and falls. Find a range of camera bags and cases [here].

Lens hood
Although the sun is rare in the UK, with global warming on the rise, we may see the sun a bit more than usual. For us film photographers, it provides a perfect setting to capture detail and bright colours; however, glare and lens flares, where the sun directly hits the lens, can create an almost misty image rather than the desired vibrant and crisp photo. A lens hood is like a sun hat for your camera - it shields the lens from stray light and helps block direct sunlight that can cause glare or lens flare. This accessory does not interfere with your camera settings since light is still reflected from the scene in front. This allows you to get an accurate exposure reading to capture your image. The link to our selection of lens hoods can be found [here].
